Confirm the supported configuration
Send the registration, transmission type and existing ECU calibration. Support is confirmed for the relevant control unit and software version. Include fitted hardware and any previous TCU work rather than assuming all vehicles with the same gearbox name are identical.
The appointment takes place at Llandow. Drivers planning a visit from further west can use the Ammanford preparation guide and send the brief before travelling.
State what needs improving or investigating
Explain the drive mode, shift behaviour and circumstances in which it occurs. A preference about normal shift scheduling is different from clutch slip, shudder or a warning message. Provide servicing information and fault records where available.
Existing mechanical symptoms need assessment. Calibration cannot repair a worn component, and a transmission fault can affect the scope of planned engine work.
Consider engine and gearbox work as one brief
For supported, suitable vehicles, the proposed software work may address shift scheduling, response and torque coordination. Its scope depends on the vehicle, its condition and the engine configuration. The workshop confirms the appropriate changes rather than treating every transmission enquiry alike.
Link the enquiry to standard-car ECU tuning or custom hardware calibration as applicable. If measurement is needed, ask which testing appointment suits the vehicle and question.
Get a quote for the agreed work
Send the ECU and gearbox history, current symptoms and intended use. That allows compatibility, diagnosis and the proposed appointment to be discussed before a vehicle-specific price is agreed.
