Define the requested change
Describe everyday response, the current hardware and intended use. If the car is standard, start with a Stage 1 enquiry. If parts have changed, send the specification so a bespoke calibration can be discussed.
Give the controllers their own information
Registration, engine and transmission help identify the supported ECU and TCU route. A vehicle badge cannot establish access to every controller. Include previous software on both engine and gearbox where known.
Ask which checks belong to the job
A calibration booking, an output measurement and a diagnostic investigation are different scopes. Explain the current concerns and ask what the proposed appointment includes. A running fault should not disappear from the brief simply because more power is requested.
Understand the record
For any included measurements, ask about the units, vehicle setup and comparison being recorded. A complete report is more informative than a peak figure separated from its conditions.
